Swindon Women’s Aid Recognised Nationally For High-quality Service

Swindon Women’s Aid has been awarded the Women’s Aid National Quality Mark today, demonstrating that it provides a high quality of service to victims experiencing domestic violence in Swindon. The Women’s Aid Quality Standards are national standards which measure the quality of specialist domestic violence services on a number of factors. Swindon Women’s Aid were particularly commended for their professional practice in supporting the needs of victims and working partnership with both their service users and local agencies.

Impact of Domestic violence & abuse on young people

The shocking number of children affected by domestic abuse in Swindon is revealed in a report put to the council’s Health and Wellbeing Board today.

 It shows that approximately 1,000 children each year are exposed to abuse within the home, usually between parents, with more than 40 per cent of that figure being under the age of five.

The new website is one of many activities and projects to raise awareness of domestic violence and abuse across Swindon during national Domestic Violence Awareness Week. The website at www.swindonwomensaid.org has been created by Swindon Women’s Aid to provide information and advice on domestic violence and abuse for anyone living in Swindon along with details of how you can access their services.
