SWA were delighted to receive funding from the Police Crime Commissioner, Angus Macpherson to expand our specialist domestic abuse service into the GWH and local GP surgeries.
Great Western Hospital
Our health Independent Domestic Violence Advisor Service offers support and advice to health care professionals working within GWH. They can access our qualified and experienced IDVA for advice, support and staff departmental training in relation to domestic violence and abuse.
Patients experiencing domestic abuse whilst at the GWH will be offered free, 1-2-1 confidential advice and support by the Health IDVA. This support can continue once they have been discharged back into the community if need be.

The GP Outreach Service offers bespoke training, support and advice to GPs and practice staff across Swindon. Patients can access the GP Health Outreach support worker via their doctor or nurse or by self –referral at one of our local GP drop in services. Please see below for details of our GP drop-ins.
The Outreach Worker can provide patients who are experiencing domestic violence or abuse with a free, 1-2-1 confidential advice and support service.
