How you can help us

Swindon Women’s Aid works to protect and support victims and children of domestic abuse in Swindon. In the past three years (2010-2012) Swindon Women’s Aid has provided emergency refuge accommodation to 309 women and 343 children who fled their homes due to domestic and sexual violence.  We also provided information, advice and support to over 3,000 female and male victims of domestic abuse via our 24 hour telephone helpline and continue to work directly with female and male victims of domestic abuse in local communities; these include those victims deemed to be at significant risk of harm.

Each donation we receive really does go a long way towards helping victims and survivors of Domestic Violence & Abuse. We really appreciate all support received!

We accept a variety of items at Swindon Women's Aid, please see a number of examples below:

  • Unused or in good condition towels/ hand towels/flannels

Above are some of the items that we gratefully accept. These items come in very useful to our families living within the Refuge as many families that arrive in our Refuge bare very limited belongings with them. Within the Refuge we hold a small clothes store that allows ladies to take as many items of clothing/shoes/coats needed for themselves and their children at no cost therefore, donating them to SWA at no cost really does help! Accepting donations for our clothes store always depends on the storage we have available therefore, we advise you to call or email beforehand as this allows us to check for suitable storage. Unfortunately, due to health and safety we are unable to accept electrical items. We really appreciate all items we receive as it is a great help for us to be able to provide these items to families coming into the Refuge when they need them the most.

You may like to purchase items especially to donate to the Refuge, this can be items as listed above or specific items/gifts for mums and children maybe coming up to the Christmas period. If you are willing and able to do this we do advise that you call beforehand to discuss what items you are wanting to purchase and we may be able to inform you of what we are most in need of at the time.
