31st October 2017 - SWA Response To Governments Future Funding Plans For Supported Housing Sector - A Threat To Refuges

Today the Government set out its proposed funding plans for the supported housing sector - of which domestic violence refuges make up just 1%.

The proposals made by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) do not protect specialist refuge provision and will make it even more difficult for victims to flee domestic violence and abuse.

I Got Flowers Today

I Got Flowers Today

I got flowers today; it wasn’t my birthday or any other special day.
We had our first argument last night and he said a lot of
cruel things that really hurt me.
I know he is sorry and doesn’t mean it.

I got flowers today; it wasn’t our anniversary or any other special day.
Last night he threw me into the wall and choked me.
It seemed like a nightmare - I couldn’t believe it was real.
I woke up this morning all bruised and sore.
I know he must be sorry as he sent me flowers.

Swindon Womens Aid Refuge Music Gig 2013

This great SWA fundraising event was held at Christ Church on May 4th – It was a collaborative celebration of female-fronted music, to raise funds to support our frontline work with victims.  The evening, organised and hosted by Marie Lennon, provided a musical treat in an unusual but extraordinary setting. This was the second “Refuge” event Marie has organised to raise funds for Swindon Women’s Aid and both evenings have been filled with fun, friends and amazing music!!!
